Rizwan Khan, a Muslim from the Borivali section of Mumbai, suffers from Asperger's syndrome, a form of high-functioning autism that complicates socialization. The adult Rizwan marries a Hindu single mother, Mandira, in San Francisco. After 9/11, Rizwan is detained by authorities at LAX who mistake his disability for suspicious behavior. Following his arrest, he meets Radha, a therapist who helps him deal with his situation and his affliction. Rizwan then begins a journey to meet US President Obama to clear his name.

Rann is truly a well-made film. No two opinions on that. The film should be patronised by viewers of serious, sensible cinema.Rann is a serious film and Ram Gopal Varma knows what he's talking this time. It wouldn't be erroneous to state that you recall Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar while watching Rann, even though the two films are as diverse as chalk and cheese. You recall Sarkar because Rann is an equally powerful film that shows a world we've only seen from the exterior. Rann is for those who enjoy serious cinema. It's more for the intelligentsia, for the thinking viewer. Definitely not for those who seek refuge in frivolous masala capers.

Ranbir Kapoor plays Harpreet Singh Bedi, a B Com graduate with 39 per cent marks who becomes a salesman in a computer company. His idealistic vision of the working world shatters quickly. Within a few days of working, a client asks for a kickback. Harpreet is aghast and files a complaint. But his honesty only brings him a demotion and humiliation. Determined to do it his way, Harpreet forms his own company within the company. Other disgruntled employees also find their way to Rocket Sales Corporation – a place where even the peon is an equal partner because he brings talent to the table.
